I'm having my first link party and everyone's invited! This particular link party I'm doing through inlinkz is pretty cool because it allows you guys to include a thumbnail picture in the link from your post. If all goes well, I may start having regular link parties. If you've never participated in one and aren't sure why anyone would, they're a good way of getting yourself out there to introduce your blog to others and find new blogs to follow. I'm sure most of you already knew that, but there are always the new kids on the block that can sometimes feel a little left out or not have any idea of what's really going on. I still feel like one of the new kids sometimes too. In fact, having this link party makes me feel like I'm sticking my neck out to have my head chopped off. Not sure why, I'm just a little timid like that I guess.
Anyway, here we go. I hope you all participate and have fun! Party ends on April 13th and you can join anytime until then.☺
Hello, we're Jeff and Celeste and we are the homeschooling parents to five precious children and small slew of farm animals on our little 5 acre homestead. This blog is about the journey we began in July of 2009 when we decided to take $15,000 we inherited from Jeff's grandparents and try our hardest to build a house from scratch with cash. In less than 6 months of Jeff working weekends on the house with the help of few wonderful friends and family members, we moved into our little 1200 square foot cottage home. It isn't finished and the going is slow, but to date we have a fully functional home and have spent less than $30,000. Finishing is going to take us some time as we continue to do the work ourselves and only as we can afford to pay cash for the materials. Our budget is very real (and small) so we hope this blog might inspire others to step out of the box and try something different too. For us, it has resulted in becoming more self sufficient, shedding about $70,000 worth of debt and finally living in a house we built in the country like we've always dreamed. I appreciate everyone of you who take the time to stop by here and read a little.
