Not too long ago, while blog browsing, I came across a little picture tutorial of a ruffled pillow at Creamy White and decided to try my hand at making one myself.
First I tore two and three inch wide strips of fabric and machine basted them right down the middle.
Then I pulled the bobbin thread to make the strips all ruffledy.
After pining them in place to the pillow fabric, I sewed them on. Also right down the middle.
Then I sewed up the pillow and stuffed it.
I had so much fun with the first one that I did it all again.
After posing the pillow on the bed,
I took no less than 127 pictures of Sophie.
I pulled some fabric from my stash (I inherited fabric stashing from my mother who inherited it from her mother) and would like to find ideas for a couple more pillows. I was thinking large square pillows using the fabric in the lower left corner.
Please take some time to visit Li and look around Creamy White. She has lot of good ideas!

ReplyDeleteWow...I am your newest follower{#55} and I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of y'all and your cute little home. However, you have inspired my bedroom walls. Actually only one wall will be covered with those awesome planks, but nevertheless, I LOVE it!! I just breezed thru your whole blog and cannot wait to see more!!

You know its Romas birthday in May and she wanted me to ask you if you would make her some of those pillows...I had NOTHING to do with this request (wink wink) :)
ReplyDeleteRuffles the greatest! Question though, what did you do to the sides of each ruffle to keep them from fraying in the future?
Celeste,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pillows! They compliment the new bedding you got beautifully.

Marisha, tell little Roma I have some really cute purple fabric with pink ballerinas and sparkles all over it that would be just perfect as pillows...heh heh.
